Winter Melts Into Spring

No pun intended! As winter winds down, it time to think about Spring. You change your dark wardrobe to pastels, your sheets from flannel to a lighter fabric, and you finish your chili to stock up on food that’s less hearty and more suited for the season. So, why not do the same for candles and try new spring scents? Our holiday collections prepare you for winter and now we’re adding two fresh new spring candle scents to brighten up your Spring.

Spring into the season with a Kristin candle

Spring has nearly sprung and on April 1, Kristin and Company is introducing new spring candle scents that are perfect for welcoming in the warm weather and fresh breezes.

What are Kristin’s new scents for Spring? (Drum roll, please!)

Our new spring scents available beginning April 1 are: Summer Breeze and Water Lily!

  • Water Lily is a soft and delicate fragrance featuring a citrus and floral blend.
  • Summer Breeze is the perfect summertime sweet aroma of creamy coconut.

How often does Kristin & Co. release new scents?

We typically release new scents in January and August as well as a special collection around the winter holidays!

What is Kristin’s process for creating new scents?

At Kristin & Company we are always excited to create new scents. Then there comes the tricky part: deciding on which scents to add to our store.

Creating new scents is a group effort among our staff. We read comments and reviews from our customers because customers are our priority. We want to provide our loyal customers with the scents they wish existed.

Once we decide on the scents, we hand pour test candles. We burn them in our office so we can get a sense of how the scent smells initially, as well as after being exposed to it for a while. Then we vote on what we liked and disliked.

From there, we decide on the time of year appropriate to each scent. Once that’s settled, we start making our new scented candles right here in our facility in Standish, Michigan.

Why do these scents work well for spring?

Water Lily’s blend of citrus and florals is perfect for the time of year when flowers start blooming again.

Summer Breeze harkens what’s next: the season of cool breezes on the beach. Creamy coconut brings in a tropical element that’s relaxing.

How do these scents make Spring better?

Our new spring scents, Water Lily and Summer Breeze, take what’s going on outside in nature and brings it indoors so you can enjoy it in your home as well.

In short, Spring should be sweet, citrusy, and floral

And our new spring scents do just that!

  • Sweet
  • Citrusy
  • Floral

Sweet

Sweet scents help you concentrate and enhances your performance taking tests or other tasks that require concentration.

The scent of coconut can reduce stress and help you relax. So, whether you’re taking the SATs or Spring cleaning, our Summer Breeze scent with coconut might be the unlikely answer!

In addition to our new spring scents, our other sweet scents include:

  • Sugar Cookie
  • Butterscotch Oatmeal
  • Caramel Cookie
  • Cinnamon Bun
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Snickerdoodle
  • Sugar Cookie
  • Cinnamon
  • Spiced Clove
  • Apple Pie
  • Sweet Pea
  • Vanilla

Citrusy

With Spring being the season of new growth, our new spring scents wouldn’t be complete without a fruity scent.

Citrus is a bold scent with a lot to admire!

Burn a candle in the morning to brighten up your day and set the tone for the rest of the day. Clear your mind of all negative thoughts and emotions before stepping out the door.

Citrus fruit, floral, and winter spice scents calm and sooth the mind and body and keep your stress levels in check. Fruity scents can even treat insomnia and cure a headache. Citrus scents put you in a happy and energetic mood, uplifting both the mind and body.

The smell of orange is often used in aromatherapy to treat depression. Though not a substitute for medication, this citrus scent can help you relax and brings on pleasant thoughts, and puts you in a happy mood. Additionally, medical studies suggest orange aromatherapy can boost cognitive function for people with Alzheimer’s disease.

Citrus complements well with other scents, especially florals, making them more earthy and deep. This is what we did with our new Water Lily scent!

In addition to our new spring scents, our other citrusy scents include:

  • Citrus and Basil
  • Orange Spice

Floral

Florals. The scent of romance!

Floral scents are good for your mood and reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression. The scent acts to decrease your breathing rate and blood pressure to help you relax. The scent also brings energy and positive and uplifting thoughts. It can also help relieve headaches. That’s a lot of benefits for one type of scent!

In 2008, Park and Mattson found that patients in hospital rooms with bright flowers and potted plants “needed less postoperative pain medication, had lower systolic blood pressure and pulse rates, were less anxious and tired, and generally were in a more positive psychological state than patients in rooms without plants.”

Researchers at Wageningen University in the Netherlands found that patrons with fresh flowers on their restaurant tables seemed to be in better moods.

Florals are good complements to other fragrances. That’s why we mixed floral with citrus to create our Water Lily scent!

In addition to our new spring scents, our other floral options include:

  • Best Friends
  • Lavender
  • Lavender and Vanilla
  • Lilac
  • Love Spell
  • Magnolia
  • Midnight Pomegranate
  • Sensuous Bloom
  • Sweet Pea
  • Twilight
  • Wildflowers

From Then to Now

In Cyprus, archaeologists discovered a 4,000-year-old buried perfumery. Some things never get old and it seems that the appreciation for soothing scents is one of them!

From ancient Cyprus to modern-day Michigan, at Kristin and Company we hope to continue the candle tradition for years (or centuries!) to come. We’re constantly taking old scents and both honoring tradition and using old, familiar scents to create something new. That’s what we did with Water Lily and Summer Breeze. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Pleasant scents have a range of benefits

Many benefits of candle scents aren’t specific to one fragrance. These perks include:

  • Enhances mood
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Triggers happy memories
  • Relaxing
  • Therapeutic
  • Smell great!
